What You will Learn About

Develop the skills to care for those within the aged care, disability, or home and community care sector.

This Certificate III in Individual Support replaces three former Certificate III qualifications in Aged Care, Disability and Home and Community Care (HACC).

Throughout your training, the focus will be on empowering and equipping you with the knowledge and competencies required by HACC workers to deliver individualised person-centred support to people who may require assistance due to ageing, disability or some other reason, both in community or residential based settings.

You will be taught how to use discretion and judgement in relation to providing this support and to take ownership of tasks and outcomes.

Get Job Ready

As a graduate you’ll provide support to people in need in residential aged care settings, through community recreation, leisure and respite programs and within clients’ homes and other community settings.

Entry Requirements

Domestic Students

To apply for entry, domestic Students will need to meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Students need to be 18 years of age
  2. Completion of Pre-Training Review and written Literacy Test
  3. Interview
  4. A current clear National Police check.

International Students

To apply for entry, international students will need to meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Students need to be 18 years of age
  2. Students for whom English is not the primary language must have an academic/overall IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent or above OR
    Complete the Reading, Writing and Numeracy Tests provided by Pragmatic Education Group – conditions apply. Please query with Pragmatic Education Group.
  3. Students need to have successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent
  4. A current clear National Police check.

Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer

You are referred to the Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer which will give you the information about the credit for prior learning.

Work Placement

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience by completing 160 hours of Work Placement in an Aged Care facility to give you the best possible working experience and help you get ready for your new career.
